Is it possible to obtain legal aid before the Council?
The Statutes of the Council provide for the adoption of the Code of civil procedure as concerns the obtainment of a legal aid.
The concerned party must submit a stamp duty free application to this effect to the Council clerks’ office to which is attached a statement from the finance administration about the taxes paid by the applicant. The latter may also attach to his petition a statement from any competent authority attesting his neediness.
Should the reporting counselor decide to grant the aid, the President of the Bar Association should appoint an Attorney to defend him free of charge.
The decision of the reporting counselor is subject to appeal before the Chamber within fifteen days from its notification.
